The purpose of this service is to facilitate the customers in implementing the process for a specific discipline. The service closely follows the customization methodology as advocated in RUP. The following sections provide an overview of the activities involved.
Why this?
Often the development teams would like to implement the process in a progressive manner to mitigate the risks involved. This results in adopting the process one discipline at a time. This also helps in customizing the process for a specific domain as more refinements can be brought in at the micro level. The RUP should be configured to cater to these challenges as against a full scale adoption. This provides the necessary formalism based on the current needs.

Both stakeholders and the development team are benefited. Stakeholders get an assurance that the process is implemented progressively with predictable results. The development team gets the benefit of optimal formalism that enables the forward development in a predictable manner.
What are the different models we offer?
Astra Infotech offers the following services with respect to process consulting:
- Training - One day training program on the foundations of RUP and another day for the basics of customization for a specific domain.
- Consulting - This service facilitates the project managers in evolving appropriate process for their projects in a specific discipline. Our consultants work along with the project manager in establishing the appropriate process and implement the same.
- Quickstart - This is a combination of training and consulting. The methodology is imparted in a short time with the hands-on being done on the project itself. This provides the shortest path to implement the methodology, ideally suited for small teams and projects.
What is the normal working model?
- Trainings are imparted onsite with our trainers directly interacting with the project team
- Consulting is either done wholly onsite or using an onsite-offshore model. Part of the documentation activities could be done offshore. This offers cost effective model for the customers.
